Day 1 (PaLA)

Day 1: What is the Framework and how does it connect to our pedagogical practices?

Please visit the workshop main page to find preworkshop details.

Day 1 focuses on how prior knowledge and attitudes towards information literacy instruction can influence our understanding of, approaches to, or attitudes towards the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy. Additionally, we will consider how our perceptions of and experiences with teaching and learning can be both opportunities and barriers.

Enduring Understanding for this session

  • The Framework’s structure and the pedagogical approaches it encourages are informed by key learning theories and related research on backward instructional design, learning transfer, threshold concepts and metaliteracy.
