Universal Design for Learning & Accessibility

Universal design for learning (UDL) is a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn. (CAST.org)

In this module, we’ll be talking about the importance of Universal Design for Learning (or UDL), and how UDL relates to other common online learning topics: accessibility and accommodations.

  • Distinguish between Universal Design, Accessibility, and Accommodations
  • Articulate how you could apply Universal Design for Learning in your online course.
  • Apply 7 core skills of accessibility (AccessibleU)
  • Begin working on strategies to enhance accessibility in your course.

  • Provide materials and content that adhere to accessibility and usability guidelines
