5.2 Investing Your Time: Identifying Your Values to Set Priorities

What’s important to you? What do you value? Think about what’s really important to you. Your list will likely be different than your roommate’s or best friend’s or parents’. How frequently do you reflect on who you are and really consider what makes you an individual? Recall the values you identified previously in the course.

Reflecting on your values can help you plan for how you’ll use your time and may make it easier for you to make decisions to put time toward the things that really matter to you. Planning will allow you to balance your commitments and priorities; these may include your education, work, family, friends, and should also include you! Caring for yourself is a very important role, and when you find balance across the dimensions of wellbeing, you’ll be better able to help others, reach your goals, and contribute to your community.
