This book is a collective imagining and telling of how we are all part of this world. The stories from University of Minnesota instructors are rooted in a deep sense of place, and each provides a unique view of how to embody sustainability. While it may seem to the reader that these stories come from different geographies and landscapes, we hope to show that they interweave and create a watershed flowing with our collective waters.

This work comes from the Institute on the Environment (IonE) Educators program that brings together faculty and instructional staff from across the University of Minnesota system to develop innovate ways to teach sustainability. IonE is an interdisciplinary, environmental research, education, and communication center located on the Saint Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The authors of this book are grateful for the support and inspiration from our students, families, everyone at IonE, and the various communities we work with across Minnesota and beyond.
