2 As scholars we require scholarly information

Being a student is more than quietly learning key concepts and ideas. It’s also about discussing this as scholars and adding to the conversation.

Where do scholars put their information?

Scholars publish information in scholarly articles. Producing this information can take a long time. When scholars write articles, it can take months or years to get them published!

Where do we find scholarly information?

Scholarly information is used in popular journalism, but usually we find it by searching scholarly databases. This gets us the original articles.

Why is this important?

As a student, you are expected to discuss the ideas of scholars in your area of study. It’s important to understand how scholars create and share these ideas. It’s also very important that you add your own ideas to this ongoing scholarly conversation.
