Identifying Scholarly Conversations

What does the scholarly conversation look like?

What was the last conversation you were in? A handwritten letter? In-person? iMessage text chain with your closest friends? TikTok? SnapChat?

Conversations happen in many ways. They usually involve two or more people conversing about something, or someone. They can happen fast or slow.

Sometimes conversations are easy to identify – like the ones in our everyday lives.

The conversations between scholars look a little different. This makes them harder to identify.

In this module we will go over:

  • what scholarly conversations look like,
  • the rules we use in scholarly conversations and
  • why these rules are important.
