What does it mean to be a good scholar?
When we talk about academic integrity, we often talk about what it means to be a good scholar.
Being a good scholar means
- crediting and respecting the work of others, whether you are citing your sources, or working on a group project.
- creating your own original work (not purchasing it or reusing someone else’s work).
- knowing when to ask for help, or for clarification on an assignment.

Merriam Webster defines a scholar as
1 : a person who attends a school or studies under a teacher : pupil
2a : a person who has done advanced study in a special field,
2b : a learned person
3 : a holder of a scholarship
