You have an adult patient with good general oral health but with some gum recession. After having his first cavity filled a few months ago, he bought an electric toothbrush because he feels like his teeth get cleaner this way. However, he is concerned that using an electric toothbrush could exacerbate his gingival recession. He asks you if it is as safe for his gums to use an electric toothbrush as a manual one.
