Nutritious U PantryFood insecurity can be a real problem for some students. In fact, one in four student will experience or will be worried about a food shortage each month. If you are struggling to get enough to eat at any point, the Nutritious U Food Pantry is a great resource to explore. They provide fresh and healthy food to students that struggle to get enough to eat. Any student can visit the food pantry and no proof of need is required. Their website includes when the food pantry is open, as well as links to other community food and nutrition resources.

Within the Health Science Education Center (HSEC), there are dedicated wellbeing spaces which can be used for lactation and a number of wellbeing activities. If you need to pump or express milk while on campus, HSEC has two specifically designation lactation spaces available in HSEC 7-171 and PWB 2-242C. These spaces are used only for lactation needs. There are also two HSEC wellness rooms, located in HSEC 2-109 and 2-111, which provide a comfortable environment in which you can tend to your wellbeing. There is also a wellbeing studio located on the 7th floor. Students may use the rooms for prayer, meditation, stretching, stress relief, sensory relief, and more. To request access or for more information about  the wellbeing and/or lactation spaces in HSEC, contact hsecwellness@umn.edu.

If you unexpectedly find yourself in a situation where you are unable to afford food, the University and School of Dentistry have emergency funds available to support students through unexpected financial constraints.

Physical safety and security is also an important factor of physical health. You can find more information about this in the Security chapter.
